Join BAMSO, Cincinnati Choral Society and special young artist, cellist Miriam Smith for our Holiday 2019 concert.

 Young Artists Competition 2019

Jack & Lucille Wonnell Young Artist Concerto Competition 2019  

Four divisions:

1) Strings (violin, viola, cello, double-bass)

2) Keyboard (piano, harpsichord, organ, etc.)

3) Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, Guitar and Harp, etc.

4) Musicians 13-and-under (all instruments)


A first place performing prize will be awarded to a young instrumentalist in each division.  A second place award in each division could also be awarded at the discretion of the jury. 


First place winners in all divisions will receive $200 as well as the opportunity to perform with the Orchestra.


Second place winners will receive $100 and would stand in for the first place winner in the event that he or she could not perform with the orchestra.


Outstanding applicants may also be offered the opportunity to participate in a BAMSO sponsored recital.


Eligibility:  Area students age 18 and under, not enrolled in college (pre-college) who were not first place winners in their chosen division in the prior year.


Application Procedure:


Deadline:    Postmarked no later than November 16, 2019


What to send: 

1.   CD, DVD or USB Flash drive (Video-AVI, FLV, WMN, MOV, Mp4) (Audio-Mp3, WAV)

       - There is no “live” audition (this will not be returned)

       - Submission may, but is NOT required to include piano accompaniment

2.   A biographical sketch

3.   The completed attached application form, signed by the student and the private teacher.

4.    A $25 application fee – Checks payable to BAMSO

Winners will be announced publicly at the Blue Ash/Montgomery Symphony Holiday Concert on December 1, 2019.  They are encouraged but not required to attend to accept their award.
